Brianna Howard, LCSW, ART Practitioner
A lot of life can happen to a child before they even have a chance to make a decision for themselves. You may have started to notice your child is struggling with decision making, experiencing anger way above proportion, or having a hard time making friends or getting involved. I can help create skills that help your child navigate the big moments, and help them create language to help them ask for what they need and want.
Therapy for Children
From middle school until about 25, life comes at you full speed, and there doesn’t seem to be a study guide to help with the right answers. You’re trying to spend time finding yourself, while also making friends, trying new things, and navigating tough parts of life, while trying to get that project done before the Monday morning bell. Somehow, we’ve gone from being trusted with our own glass of milk to driving a car, to deciding what you want to do for a career, and everyone just expects you to know how. You might be feeling anxiety that makes you freeze in places, preventing you from making the choices you need to make. You might feel a little behind the ball and struggling with anger or sadness, as some things don’t pan out the way you wanted. I can help you start to make sense of your own life, decide what is important to you and set priorities, explore the best way you achieve your goals, and build skills to manage the big part of life.

Family Therapy
Family is the one thing that is always there. Whether it’s healthy, unhealthy, on non-speaking terms, or calling every Sunday night, family is always present in our lives. If you’ve noticed some things about your family dynamics that don’t seem to be developing in healthy ways, or your family just experienced a traumatic event, I can help you find restoration and peace. I want to help you and your family come back together, opening the lines of communication, and making the hard changes your family may need. I can help you decide the family priorities and also set goals for where you’ll go from this point in maintaining healthy relationships.
Life can offer a lot of change and transition, whether we plan for it or not. In one lifetime, we can experience: love, hate, marriage, school, children, loss, separation, divorce, re-entering dating pools, starting a career, managing your evolving relationship with your children, lay-offs, career changes, financial stress, financial blessings, loss of a parent, finding support in new places, moving, etc. Why hasn’t anyone gotten around to making one of those owner manuals everyone seems to talk about? Life changes can be fun and exciting, and also stressful and full of anxiety. I want to sit with you as we explore your priorities, make decisions that are authentic and true to you, and help manage and process the stress and anxiety that comes with the big life adjustments.
Therapy for Big Life Transitions
Therapy with me is…
-
I work hard to give you a safe and comfortable place to process the full range of emotions and experiences.
-
I hear you when you say the hard things. Therapy with me means that I consider everything you tell me, not just the "expected goals."
-
The way I do therapy is heavily based on including you in your treatment. I want you to be bought in just as much as I am. I take special efforts in talking out my thoughts on what therapies I think would be best and hear your feedback on my recommendations.
-
I'm not interested in telling you, "it'll get better as you get older." I want to work with your experiences now, not the possible future ones. By making sure we work together on your stressors of today without minimizing them, we work to create a healthier tomorrow.
