Therapy for Athletes

Create peace inside and outside of your sport

Online & In-person counseling in Atlanta and throughout Georgia

Do you consider yourself an athlete, either current or former?

Have you experienced injury, extended recovery times, retirement, or loss of a team?

Do you feel like your “mental space” has been off since an injury or even retirement?

Are you struggling to find a healthy version of you outside of your sport?

Sports and athletics can change lives for the better, and in a lot of ways, they probably changed your life for the better. However, life as an athlete does not come without costs, sacrifices, identity struggles, emotional pain, and much more. Oftentimes, life as an athlete is routinely spelled out for you. You know when and where practice is, your community is decided by those who want to show up just as much as you, you know how to fuel and hydrate accordingly, and you even know how to keep some of those more minor injuries and sprains under control.

What happens when that threatens to come to a screeching halt? No athlete leaves their sport when they’re ready. Whether you’re managing injury, looking at long-term prognosis and goals, navigating life outside of your sport, or just trying to figure out what life even looks like outside of practice, we can help. We have clinicians who have been “lifetime” athletes and understand the pain and anxiety that comes with making adjustments in your performance styles, moving onto other things, or even having a sense of self outside of your community.

We meet you where you are. If you’re looking to stay in the game or looking to move to the next thing, we support you. We can help you clearly state your priorities, create real and meaningful goals, help with mindset work during and post-injury, and tackle negative self-beliefs in and out of the game. We incorporate a mixture of skills you can take with you long after you’ve stopped therapy, that will work as you need them to, we identify negative body sensations and map out their root to work with them to shift into something more manageable and neutral, we help you better understand feelings and behaviors that you know are counter productive but can’t seem to stop them, and we can also incorporate eye-movement based therapy that helps with sports performance enhancement, increasing positive self belief, moving on from injury, and much more.

If you’re curious about the eye-movement-based therapy mentioned, check out our Accelerated Resolution Therapy page.
